PostSubject: Very sad story of P. Ramlee   Fri Nov 05, 2010 4:58 pm

Recently History Channel had this documentary about P. Ramlee's life. It's very good film for everyone to find out things he had gone through. Not many knows with all the backstabbings and politics towards end of his life P. Ramlee was so broke he can't even afford decent food on the table for his family, in fact they don't even have money for his funeral. This is how sad our industry is, and these days those people who wish to see him go down are the one glorifying him, and making tons of money on top of that.

Part 1-7, go to youtube to find out the rest. But i highly suggest go download the full documentary instead (won't share the link here just google it, the avi file should be around 1GB size).

It was a well known fact between the artist circles of that. In fact some of his movies are an indirect voice against those who create problems for him. Some of the video in YT have snippets of what the dialogs meant. Some were about UMNO. If it wasn't pointed out, i would not have known too. TV2 is cycling his movies the whole year every Monday.

P Ramlee and Saloma was famously known spending money on horsing race track and his favorite son now work only as garbage collector. Sharifah Aini was famously known when she drag her mother to the court and also because her many marriage. Sudirman loosing life as AIDS victims.
Siti Nurhaliza stealing somebody husband, confusing everyone that she was a very good role model....and you can see after her 1 year of marriage till now baby and fetus just like garbage....they are everywhere.
The curse are continuing ....

Some of the points u mentioned are very interesting. In fact some of P Ramlee city life movies shows him enjoying life in night clubs. I wonder if in real life he does hang out at these places? Probably Aziz Sattar & S Shamsudin knows?

I do not know much about Sudirman except he was probably the early version of Adam Lambert of today. And i think Siti is over rated. She has too many fanatical fans. It reflects on some local award shows, that she wins even when she does not have a new song in the market. Its crazy!!

But really la. If an artist is not quirky, they could not come up with the best things in their career. Everyone has their poison.

Actually that's not really something you should be wondering as the Malays back then are totally different than Malays today, especially the elite Malays, they were far more 'liberal' so night clubs, women, gambling and all shouldn't be seen as surprising to see our fathers did it. Those are not seen as an 'offense' back then, for example if P. Ramlee was so broke he ran mahjong table there's no things like JAIS that will haul him up just because he's Malay, and most Malay goverment servants even had their own bar inside their house. So if you hear stories up to this day like royalty being an alcoholic, frequents casino, ministers keeping mistresses and all it's just their old habits never dies. I'm not saying this is a good thing, just telling how it used to be. Both my grandparents lived in this circle.

By mid 80's there no more bar for everyone at our great bangunan Parliment.
All YB's will get high first before enter parliment.
Tengku Abdul Rahman is known as heavy drinker but never tinggal sembahyang.
Sad as its affected me also.... my dad should now are retiree army great General as he said some old retiree general is lower rank than him.
Have to leave army as he never wanted to see my mother been pull by all his friends on army mass dinner. Old army and police masss dinner served free flow alcoholic drinks for everyone...that is 85-90% of Malay.

In other words i probably grew up being served the distilled lives of the old ways. The closest i have come across such, is a childhood malay friend who asked me to buy him booze. To which i declined. In fact i'm not going to buy anyone any booze because i have a relative that has a bad history with booze. Lucky he turned up OK nowdays. With kids and all.

Those days the army barang was supplied by NAAFI (nowdays army stores PERNAMA) This store are duty free and harga beer like ancor and guiness are really cheap at the army mass, macam tuang air aje. Minum dula bil kemudian tenyeh aje. Cukup bulan potong gaji. AT the time almost all the offiicers (ada warak tak joint) have to take part. Its their brought up. Nowdays, kalau nak tengok oldies hangout boleh pi ke clubhouse golf Angkatan Tentera di Sungei Besi.

Bought at Centeral Market for RM5.
Once JPJ officer kena with me. Then aku kena marah. Now just keep it safely at home.

Watched again P. Ramlee story at History channel 5 am today. Very sad story at the end. Saloma wished to be buried beside the late P.Ramlee made possible through Marini. The irony, the Saloma Biastro was just across the Ampang Muslim cemetery. I wonder how they react. pale
